Venue

Hirschluch (das Moorwasserloch, an dem der Hirsch zur Tränke geht) – a swampy pool where the deer („Hirsch“) comes to drink – is a youth training centre with quite some history. Founded in 1925 as a youth meeting and training centre of the protestant church, we can look back on its eventful times: A refugee camp at the end of WW II and under special surveillance of the communists’ authorities during GDR-times. Some of the houses and the chapel were built partly illegally and self-organized by young people of the church during this time.

7 different houses with a number of 15 to 35 beds each, kept the charming atmosphere of the late 80s. Nevertheless “Hirschluch” can provide a number of modern seminar rooms and comfortable rooms. Since 7 years JuSeV (www.jusev.de Jugendhilfe und Sozialarbeit e.V: - Association for Youth Welfare Services and Social Work) runs and owns the area. Hirschluch is surrounded by a beautiful nature: lot of wood and some lakes which invite for hiking, water sports and swimming (find a map --> here).

We hope for good weather so nature can become a part of the project and we can move the workshops outside.

The consequence of this natural resort is that the venue is located in the “shadow” of the metropolis Berlin. The use of internet is very limited due to a connection via satellite. Especially the possible downstream data-volume is very expensive. We’ll try to provide an internet access, which can be used for important issues, but don’t plan to download a lot of materials during that time, please. Also some mobile phone providers do not really cover the area!

Find out more and a map of the area on: www.hirschluch.de (mostly in German language).
